Add-on Services (with additional fees)

  • Hot stones - $15 - The therapeutic benefits of hot stone massage are many.  Some of the highlight benefits include increased circulation, decreased muscle tension, and deep relaxation.  Because of the heat, less pressure is required in a hot stone massage (compared to a typical deep tissue massage) to accomplish work that affects the deeper layers of muscle tissue.  This effect is very helpful for people who cannot tolerate deep pressure, but have significant muscle tension.
  • Essential Oils (No additional charge) - The therapeutic benefits of essential oils are very broad and have been widely researched and documented.  Various oils have a significant beneficial effect on various physical conditions, such as: stress, pain, inflammation, headaches, muscle tension, joint discomfort, etc.
  • Ice massage (No additional charge) - Ice massage is a hydrotherapy treatment particularly helpful in relieving inflammation and discomfort from minor soft tissue strain or overuse.  Although the cool temperature is a bit intense at first, clients usually find it very soothing and effective.
  • Heat pack (No additional charge) - My heated rice bag thermotherapy treatment aids in relaxing tense muscles and increasing circulation so that the affects of massage are longer lasting and of greater benefit.  It is also a great preparation step for deep fascia work.
  • Massage gun work (No additional charge) - My Theragun massage gun work is a deep, penetrating percussion therapy for extra-tight or overworked muscles.  It helps soften the tissue, break up adhesions and restrictions, and increase circulation.
  • Fascia work (No additional charge) - Fascia is present throughout the body and wraps, connects, and separates all of its structures, making it a vitally important tissue.  If it is adhered and restricted anywhere in the body, it can cause pain and dysfunction, just like excessive muscle tension can.  I use the FasciaBlaster tool for a thorough and effective fascia release that complements the typical massage strokes.

Because of the nature of the therapeutic relationship, and because I operate with set professional fees, I do not accept tips...

Service Descriptions

Swedish* – The typical massage, which incorporates various strokes, such as gliding, kneading, vibration, friction, and percussion, as well as stretching and joint mobilization.  It involves the client disrobing to their comfort level and receiving care while lying on a table, covered modestly with a drape.  A lubricant is used to limit the drag of gliding and kneading strokes.  The benefits of Swedish massage include relaxation, reduced muscle tension, and increased blood and lymph circulation, among others. (This service can be modified to accommodate athletic massage, condition-specific work, and other considerations.) - 30, 50, or 80 Minute Treatment

Deep Tissue* – The firm pressure modification of Swedish massage.  It incorporates the same techniques and draping as Swedish, with a slightly different approach aimed at getting deeper into the muscle tissue.  Its benefits include deep relaxation, tension release, sometimes emotional release, and many others.  It is recommended to receive firm Swedish massage before receiving a deep tissue massage, unless the client is already familiar with receiving deep tissue, since its effects are often significantly stronger. - 30, 50, or 80 Minute Treatment

Shiatsu – An Eastern modality of massage that addresses the twelve meridians of the body in a firm, rhythmic massage performed without lubricant and with the client fully clothed on a table.  Joint mobilizations and stretches are also incorporated for an overall soothing, balancing effect, as well as tension release.  This style of massage is a perfect choice for those who want to try massage for the first time and would like to warm up to the idea of massage without disrobing at first. - 30, 50, or 80 Minute Treatment

Reflexology – A popular modality involving massage of the energy meridians of the feet or hands.  It usually involves the client lying face up on a table for the duration of a soothing foot massage.  The therapist works the various areas of the foot, which correspond to various areas of the body through energetic lines or meridians.  According to this concept, reflexology not only benefits the feet, but the entire body as well. - 30, 50, or 80 Minute Treatment

Chair* – A portable style of massage that incorporates various techniques ranging from compressions, kneading, and friction to stretches and joint mobilizations.  It does not involve the use of lubricant, and the client remains fully clothed.  It makes use of a chair specially designed for massage, enabling the client to be fully supported, while giving the therapist access to almost any area that needs work.  This is another great modality for those wanting to experience the therapeutic effects of massage without the potential stress of needing to disrobe.  It can also be made available outside of the clinic for events or out-call visits because of its easy setup and tear down. - 15 or 30 Minute Treatment

*A focus area massage, as opposed to a full-body massage, is limited to one area of concern or need, such as the shoulders, low back, knee, etc.  A full-body massage can also include a focus area that needs extra attention, but it addresses all the major areas of the body as well.  Usually, a full-body massage includes the back, arms, legs, hands, feet, neck, and shoulders.  It can also include abdominal work, pectoral work, glute work, and scalp and facial work; but these areas are only worked at the request and consent of the client.  Swedish, deep tissue, and chair services can take either form based on the client's preference.
